Food TEA-ROOM Macho

From children to adults! An izakaya where dart lovers of all ages gather!

At around 6 o’ clock in the afternoon,
“I guess this is an appropriate time for young people to play darts.”
“When you say young people, I suppose you mean 20-year olds, right?” 」
“If you go there you’ll find out!”
Being told this, I headed for “TEAM-ROOM Macho.”

Opening the door, I saw a group of high-school students playing darts!
“Woah! They’re so young!” 」
They were much younger than I’d imagined so I was really surprised.

“As long as they follow some rules, such as tidying everything up after they’re done, and not staying later than 20:00, even children can play darts here,” says a cheerful Mrs. Kiyomi, the locale’s mistress. Sometimes the children need to be scolded a little, and sometimes they get her praise. This is a wonderful environment for them to learn manners while being watched over by adults.

Mrs. Kiyomi opened “TEA-ROOM Macho” as a cafe in 2005, since she loves coffee. However, due to the desires of her clientele, she transformed it into an Izakaya with its main focus on darts. Mrs. Kiyomi and her family also love darts, and they are all expert players. Once every 2 months, they host a darts competition which everyone can enter, the “Macho Hai.” From the outside it looks like a cafe, but it is actually an Izakaya for darts lovers.

Macho’s Mrs. Kyome suggested that I try their “Soki soba” and their “meat sauce spaghetti.”

A soup made from boiling chicken and pork for 6 hours, with room-temperature Soki soba noodles put in to boil for another 5 hours. This is their delicious “Soki soba.”

Their “meat spaghetti” is hand-made 100% from minced beef, with 250 grams of meat sauce and 300 grams of spaghetti. This satisfyingly large dish even comes with some toast on the side!

On weekends her two children even help her out. Her children are also masters at dart-throwing, and can place the darts right in the center of the bullseye time after time. It was the first time I’d ever seen such a feat. It was such a stunning sight that I was left speechless.
“People who are beginners at darts are also welcome! Come and eat some soba!” said Mrs. Kyome. “Macho” is an Izakaya which makes you feel at home, and it’s also fun to learn darts there!
