“Bar Q.S” opened in 2009 in Shinkaichi. The “Q” in the name comes from the billiard cue stick, and the nine (Kyu in Japanese) ball.

When you open the double door facing the street, you enter a spacious room with 2 pool tables. This atmosphere is sure to please mature generations.

Live performances are held on irregular basis.

On the day of my visit, Sabo from “Chappy Shokudo” just happened to be performing. People in the mature generations were having a good time.

The owner, Satoshi Mekaru, loves to play pool, and he is a great player. Q.S holds pool contest, “House Tournament” 4 times a year. It is open to everyone, so if you like playing pool, you may want to enter the tournament.

Many of the patrons love playing pool and singing Karaoke. About 60% of the patrons are foreigners and the rest are the local Uchinanchu. The owner said, “you can enjoy a foreign feel in Okinawa. Everyone is having a great time in this American style establishment. We welcome first-timers. Please come see us.” Aya, a staff, said, “it is a nice, comfortable place.”
