The shop is run by an owner from Hokkaido, so you can enjoy the blessings of the northern land even in the Ushina social district.
Opened in Kin-cho ‘s Ushina entertainment district in 2010, “Chihiro” is a cosy and informal Karaoke bar & restaurant run by husband and wife Katsuhiko and Misako Shirakawa. It is a place for locals to rest and relax, with many customers also visiting on their own.
According to the Hokkaido born owner: “Although we are a bar and restaurant, people come here mainly to drink and sing. But if you book ahead, we can order in and prepare ingredients from Hokkaido like venison, crab and mackeral.” It’s certainly unusual to be able to enjoy the seasonal tastes of Hokkaido in a local entertainment district in Okinawa!
The proprietress comes from Ginoza-son, a village just to the north of Kin-cho. In fact, many Ginoza-son people come to Kin-cho for entertainment. Perhaps through Misako-san you can experience the charm of both Kin-cho and Ginoza-son. Tonight again it seems the pleasant chatter from Japan’s far north and south will flow again at Chihiro.
